Post GWP Rules
GENERAL RULES

1 : Use common sense and etiquette when playing:
- Don't abuse other players verbally or in the game world, ie. by intentionally annoying a player by following them around, buffing monsters, dispelling players, interrupting players out of conversation or combat, raising high level players to cause them to lose heaps of XP, etc.
- Don't be a loot whore. It is good practice to divide the corpses in each encounter evenly amongst your party members, to leave the corpses of other parties or individuals alone, and generally let other players have their share.
- Setting traps to kill NPCs or hurt/kill players is a big no no, and will be classed as PvP when determining punishment.
- If you run into a party doing a quest that you want to do, find somewhere else to adventure or join up with them - don't run ahead of them to complete the quest.
- If you're spawning high level creatures as you run through an area, kill them off and/or shout a warning to your fellow players. Lower level players can get easily slaughtered by a higher level's spawns.
- Treat other players with respect and dignity.
- Try to keep shouting to a minimum. If someone asks you to quieten down because you're shouting too much, comply.
- And so on... just use common sense! Punishments for breaking this fundamental rule are very harsh.

2 : Cheating, Hacks and Exploits
- Do NOT use any hack of any kind, this includes 'tools' that can alter a character visually, not just increase stats and such.
- Do NOT exploit. An exploit is defined as using a bug or loophole in the game to your benefit. Some examples: gaining a quest's XP, items or gold multiple times, 'pushing' through objects or doors that you normally would not be able to get through, 'camping' spawns, duplicating items or gold, the list goes on. Common sense is required. If you think something is a bug or exploit, report it immediately and any that may have abused it.
- The penalty for cheating is a permanent ban.

3 : Dungeon Masters:
- The decisions DMs make are always right.
- If a DM decides to run a quest for you or your party but you don't want to take part in a DM quest, politely decline. Remember that your party members may want to take part in it.
- If you require assistance from a DM and none are online, contact them through the details posted on the forums.
- If you want to complain about a DM, try to sort the problem out with them first. If that fails, talk to either DuckInferno or Skitzo.

4 : Roleplaying is strongly encouraged, but even roleplaying has its limits - roleplaying a 6-int half-orc barbarian that runs headlong into every encounter and leaves everyone behind is NOT recommended. Instead, ask someone in your party to restrain you when your character would otherwise run off into that encounter, etc.

PLAYER VS. PLAYER RULES

1 : You may not engage in PvP combat with another player without their permission first.
2 : If you are the victim of a Player Killer, you are eligible for a full restore. Take a screenshot of your loss and talk to a DM.
3 : PvP is only allowed if both parties agree to it. This can be a verbal response or the other party setting you to hostile.
The penalty for Player Killing varies, but can easily result in an account ban.

PICK POCKETING RULES

1 : You may PP a player character (PC) once per meeting. PPing over this limit is considered to be over acceptable PP limits and is grounds for punishment. Meetings must have a 'reasonable' amount of time between them for them to be valid, ie. Running in and out of an area to meet someone multiple times doesn't count.
2 : You may not PP under the effects of invisibility or sanctuary (the Hide skill is alright).
3 : Should your attempt to PP be detected, all of your PvP rights against your mark are stripped until (a) you are killed by your mark or (b) you have given his gold back to him. (If you do not detect that the rogue has PP'd you, you CANNOT kill them. Detecting means actually detecting that the rogue has tried to pickpocket you and failed, it does not mean suspecting a pick pocket, or knowing that you were pick pocketed without it saying he was caught.) You have NO right to fight back.

DAMN RULES...

I would like nothing more than to have one nice big rule: 'USE COMMON SENSE'. Unfortunately, there are people with different versions of 'common sense'. These people cause trouble. With rules, they typically know not to cause trouble, and if they do break them it's in the knowledge that we will come down on them like a ton of bricks.
I'd LOVE to play the game that bioware made for us, with PPing and PvP fully allowed. But it's the minority that spoils it for us all.

Evidence of rule-breaking is required if a DM is not present (screenshot, etc).
Punishment for breaking any of these rules are up to the DM to decide.

So....if I attack someone and a DM doesn't see it that is fine?

No. The victim can take a screenshot and show it to a DM.

Makes it so that if you want to RP evil you have to be rogue, that is stupid.

There are plenty other ways to RP evil without killing every player you meet on sight.

Quote:
If someone PP's me and I catch them can I kill them on sight indefinitely?

You may kill them once, not indefinitely.

...I for one think the current rules are pants!! I for one are going to make a max spot character with a big axe and shiny clothes.....

Good for you! Deal with it instead of complaining about it.

I've updated all the rules in a nicely formatted post. Please take the time to read right through it.
